What is IFTRIP?
The International Forum of Terrorism (Re)Insurance Pools (IFTRIP), launched in London in October 2015, is the only forum of its kind in the world. The aim of IFTRIP is to support initiatives for closer international collaboration between sovereign-backed terrorism reinsurance pools. Its annual conference provides a unique platform for the exchange of terrorism threat information, shared experiences in mitigation, and capacity building against economic loss resulting from terrorism.
Designed to facilitate conversations around the ‘big questions’ in the terrorism risk industry, IFTRIP also coordinates and contributes to international and cross-sectoral working groups on a variety of topical issues, from cyber terrorism to the definition of terrorism. The guiding principle is that as global terrorism becomes a more complicated, diffuse and persistent threat than ever before, a broad coalition is required to come together to understand it, and unite against ideologies which above all seek to de-stabilise and divide.
What does the conference offer?
Washington DC ‘20 marks our 6th Anniversary, providing even greater opportunities to engage and
connect with the industry’s top business leaders and key influencers. With the conference firmly established, we are able to offer an opportunity to sponsor this unique event, and so be at the heart of the world’s largest gathering of international terrorism reinsurance pools, (re)insurers, public agencies, academics and risk and security professionals.
We are currently engaging with some of the most influential speakers in their fields, and will be covering a list of themes at this year’s conference such as:
- TRIA 17 years on
- Cyber terrorism
- The definition of terrorism
- Risk Mitigation
- Using the terrorism pool model as a model for other difficult to insure perils
- Victim compensation
- Data and modelling
